2nd Annual Summer Jazz Workshop Registration Now Open

The Summer Jazz Workshop is an exciting two week intensive youth oriented program that focuses on the fundamentals of jazz music for young musicians.

The Summer Jazz Workshop is open to middle school and high school students. Students must have their own instruments to participate in the program. Sessions are conducted by experienced faculty musicians who expose the students to various subjects and concepts not fully covered by private and/or traditional public school systems.

The workshop’s curriculum includes the subject areas theory, improvisation, ear training, practice, understanding forms and composition, leadership, and performances.  Students enrolled in the workshop are given the opportunity to perform at Arts Park in Hollywood as a part of the culminating performance. Performing Arts Magnet Open House – Thursday, Jan 21

Dillard Center for the Arts is proud to announce it’s DCA Visual & Performing Arts Magnet Program Open House, Jaunary 21 beginning at 6:30 PM.

The evening will feature showcase performances from our award winning Music, Theatre and Dance Departments. Our Visual Arts Department will also have an exhibit on display in our very own 2500 sq. ft. Art Gallery.

Students and parents will then be given a tour of the World Class DCA Performing Arts Center which includes our state of the art Theatre, Blackbox Theatre, Recital Hall, Recording Studios and Ensemble Rehearsal Spaces.

DCA Presents: The MLK Gospel Extravaganza

Dillard Center for the Arts is proud to present it’s 2015 Gospel Extravaganza in celebration of the Dr. Martin Luther King Holiday.

Martin Luther King Jr. Day is a federal holiday recognizing the birthday of the civil rights leader who was born on Jan. 15, 1929,  in Atlanta, Georgia. He was assassinated in Memphis, Tennessee, on April 4, 1968, when he was 39 years old.

The family-friendly concert Saturday will be held January 16 at 7 p.m. and features performances by the award-winning Dillard High School King’s Kids Gospel Choir, with special guest, the Florida A&M University (FAMU) Gospel Choir.
